A love of sports has inspired father and son, Mark and Josh Belinsky, to keep trying new fitness challenges: from basketball, to golf, to a rowing tournament and eventually the gritty, gut it out B.I.G. Engine class at CrossFit Boston Iron & Grit. Mark, who has over 10 years experience in CrossFit, enticed his son to give CrossFit a try. Last year Mark was referred to Iron & Grit and, since then, has become a regular at our noon class and the B.I.G. Engine class on Sundays. In 2015 Mary walked into Second Wind CrossFit in the Washington DC area and took her first class. A native of Maryland, Mary had been working as a nurse practitioner with an inner city population in an urban hospital. You can say Mary doesn’t scare easy and starting CrossFit is just what this lady needed to challenge herself. Upon moving to Boston in 2018 to work in the V.A. When asked about the most valuable part of her mission within her community, Reverend Cheryl Kerr says, “where my passion sits is in justice issues, and especially justice around minorities.” Then, she adds, “especially around minorities that have traditionally and historically been oppressed in this country and across the world as well.” Cheryl has done a lot of work and research around racial injustice, as well as queer and trans rights. Like racial injustice, trans and queer injustice has always been around, shape-shifting and changing to reflect the current societal changes. Much of the injustice toward trans and queer rights hasn’t been acknowledged until the last 10-20 years. Protein is a macronutrient, which is a large nutrient that your body needs to function properly.
